The 2016 river cruise season has not started yet and we already had the first accident. Vantages River Navigator collided with a tanker in the port of Duisburg while the ship was being test by the crew. As we are off season, no passengers were on board, and also none of the crew or technicans were injured.

According to german newspapers, it is not clear, what caused the accident. In the articles linked below you can find some pictures. There is a 10 ft (3m) hole in the bow of the River Navigator. Tanks were damaged and the Navigator spilled about 1000litres of oil,. The damage is estimated to be around 100.000 Euro (110.000 USD). The Navigator was pulled off the river bank the next day.
